15 November 2014 –
On Saturday, 22 November, Hugo Johnston Drive will be a no parking / tow away road from 6.00am and the road will be closed from 3.00pm, due to the Rolling Stones concert at Mt Smart. There will be the usual off-street parking area at Simson, and we will open up the upper grassed warm-up area for additional parking. If you are stopped at the top of the street by traffic officials, let them know you are coming to softball to be let through.
The street is reserved for bus parking – if you park there, you will be towed away (this includes the grass verge). Don’t even think about parking at Simson and going to the concert. The gate into Simson Reserve will be closed at 7pm, so your car will be locked in.
There will be a temporary liquor ban on Hugo Johnston Drive (Simson Reserve is already a permanent liquor-free area), and we have been informed that the police will be actively monitoring the area.
This a repeat of the arrangement for the Bruce Springsteen concert last February, which worked very well with everyone’s cooperation.
